For those who would like to know more about me, my name is Kenneth Dean Brown. I’ll be your companion on this exciting journey as we explore the life, art, and influence of William Shakespeare. As for my bio, I have a master’s degree in Humanities from American Public University. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from Blackburn College.

In addition to this site, I teach theatre appreciation for the Southwestern College Professional Studies Program in Winfield, KS. My one-act play “Shadow” was included for production in the Changing Scene Theatre Company’s 1987 New Playwrights Competition in Denver, CO. I have worked as Artistic Director for the Eden Theatrical Workshop in Denver, CO. I was also Artistic Director for a season at the Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge, CO. In 2018, before joining Southwestern College, I retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections. For 26 years, I taught theatre, art, and humanities to prison inmates for the Illinois prison system, Lincoln Trail Community College, and Lake Land College.

I believe in lifelong learning through study of the great books and devotion to the arts. As such, I am a teacher member of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. I live in Robinson, IL with my wife, Lori, an old cat, and two small puppies who frequently help with my online teaching activities.
